Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, has a new Rector. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the appointment of Professor Ibrahim Danjuma to lead the institution.
The news came in a press statement from the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, issued on October 21, 2026.
How the appointment came about
According to the statement, the Governing Council of the polytechnic recommended Professor Danjuma at its 35th Emergency Meeting. The appointment follows the end of the tenure of the former Rector, Professor Mohammed Dahiru Toungos, in March 2026.
The Governor’s charge
Governor Fintiri congratulated the new Rector and told him to uphold academic excellence, discipline and integrity in his duties. He also asked Professor Danjuma to use his experience to move the institution forward, especially at a time of fast technological change and innovation. The Governor tied this to his administration’s commitment to reviving the state’s education sector, and he wished the new Rector a successful and productive tenure.
Why it matters to students and staff
The Rector is the chief executive and head of a polytechnic, so the appointment shapes how the institution is run, from academic standards to staff welfare. Students and staff of the polytechnic will be watching for the priorities he sets as he settles in.
